DIY Weddings: Handcraft a Simple Set of Jewellery for your Special Day

I have just finished writing this Article on a wet, Autumn Day. Its also the perfect time, to spare an hour, or so, to Craft your own beautiful Set of Jewellery. Timeless, elegant and can be re-worn again and again on other Special Occasions. The joy of feeling creative, saving money, and a sense of achievement of having made your own Weddings Jewellery.

Estimated Making Time: 1 hour

Materials & Equipment 

  1. Pliers: Chain Nose, Round Nose, Cutters
  2. Earrings: Fish Hooks, Headpins
  3. Bracelet: Stretch Elastic, Charm Bead
  4. Necklace: Thread/ Monafilament, Callottes(necklace end), Crimp Bead, Lobster Clasp
  5. White or Creamrose Swarovski Pearls 3 & 5 mm Strings
  6. Cellotape

Earrings

  1. Take a head pin and thread on one large bead, or choose a pattern; a 3mm bead then 5mm bead then a 3mm bead.
  2. Taking the round nose plier, make a loop on the top of the head pin. 
  3. Using the chain nose pliers, lift up the side of the loop. Attach the loop to the earring fishhook.

Bracelet

  1. Add some cellotape onto the end of the stretch elastic.
  2. Thread the beads in the pattern of your choice. 
  3. Attach the charm.
  4. Knot the elastic and coat with nail varnish. 

Necklace 

  1. Add some cellotape onto the end of the monofilament.
  2. Thread on the beads. 
  3. Add the callotte(necklace end) and the crimp bead to the thread.
  4. Make a loop with the thread. Then crimp the bead with the chain nose pliers.
  5. Attach a jump ring to one of the necklace ends by gently closing the necklace end with the chain nose pliers.
  6. Open a jump ring with the pliers and thread on the Lobster Clasp. Add a to the other necklace end.
  7. Ensure both necklace ends are closed with the chain nose pliers.
