Design Inspiration: An Adventure into the Unknown in Shipley Country Park

Inspiration

The Artistic Headbands that I make often draw their inspiration from nature. I find either walking or running in Nature Reserves, both relaxing and inspiring. It’s spending this time following my bliss that I’ve observed the shapes and lines of the natural world, which have informed my work. The form and shapes of vines, branches and trees are sculptured in wire, on many of my designs. They usually are very aesthetically appealing.

Today I needed to literally, go back to my roots to revive, reset and get my happy back. I dropped my daughter off at Kindergarten, then set out on my adventure, donned with my Joules Wellies. Relief, instantly I felt better. I happened upon a man wearing a Berghaus coating walking his 10 month old Border Collie. Such joy! The dog was over the moon to be out playing in nature. He said, “I’d get a dog if I was you.”

I also discovered that there is a local running group near my daughters school. They host 10k runs, now you are talking. I started to feel happy at this good news. I carried on walking, despite not know exactly where I was going. I found this very beautiful, quaint Tearoom. They told me that I could use there room to sit and craft my designs.

Walking

After 30 minutes or so, and several conversations later, this walk seemed to be a small victory. The grey weather began to clear and become brighter. I gained fresh design Inspiration from the golden leaves, reflecting that in all likelihood such colours would look beautiful as a hair accessory. I found a quaint tea room I could work from, a new running club with races to run and a sense of renewal. New adventures on the horizon.
